친구에게 실망할 때

I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through
their word. - John 17:20

"내가 비옵는 것은 이 사람들만 위함이 아니요 또 저희 말을 인하여 나를 믿는 사람들
도 위함이니" - 요한복음 17:20

With friends like his, Job didn't need enemies. His three would-be comforters
failed miserably in their efforts to ease his pain. Instead of bringing sympathy,
they delivered accusations that only compounded his anguish.

Yet Job was able to emerge triumphantly from his cave of pain and confusion.
A significant step toward that victory was his willingness to pray for the very
friends who had criticized and accused him. God honored his prayers, and Job
had the delight of seeing his friends turn to God for forgiveness (Job 42:7-10).

Jesus also prayed for His friends (John 17:6-19), despite their frequent failings.
With the agony of the cross approaching, Jesus prayed for Peter even though
He knew Peter would deny Him within hours (Luke 22:31-34).

Jesus prayed for you and me too (John 17:20-26). His work of prayer, which
began before His death and resurrection, continues to this day. Although we
sometimes act more like His enemies than His friends, Jesus is in the Father's
presence interceding for us (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).

Following Christ's example, we are to pray for our friends and acquaintances-

욥은 그의 친구들 때문에 따로 적이 필요 없었습니다. 욥을 위로해 주어야 할 세 친구
는 욥의 고통을 조금도 덜어주지를 못했습니다. 위로보다는 욥에게 탓을 돌리는 말을
하여 그의 고뇌를 더해 주었습니다.

그러나 욥은 고통과 혼란의 동굴 속에서 힘차게 빠져 나올 수가 있었습니다. 승리를
가져온 중요한 원인은 그를 비난하고 정죄한 바로 그 친구들을 위해 기꺼이 기도를 했
다는 사실입니다. 하나님은 욥의 기도를 들어 주셨고, 욥은 그의 친구들이 회개하고
하나님께 용서를 구하는 것을 보게되는 기쁨을 누렸습니다 (욥 42:7-10).

예수님도 제자들이 실수를 계속함에도 불구하고 그들을 위해 기도하셨습니다 (요
17:6-19). 다가오는 십자가의 고뇌 속에서 예수님은 베드로가 자기를 곧 부인할 것을
아시면서도 그 베드로를 위해 기도를 하셨습니다 (눅 22:31-34).

예수님께서는 당신과 나를 위해서도 기도하셨습니다 (요 17:20-26). 돌아가시고 부활
하시기 전부터 시작된 예수님의 기도 사역은 오늘까지도 계속되고 있습니다. 우리가
때로는 예수님의 친구라기 보다는 오히려 적처럼 행동할지라도 예수님은 하나님 아버
지 앞에서 우리를 위해 중보기도를 하고 계십니다 (롬 8:34; 히 7:25).

예수님의 본을 따라 우리도 친구들과 아는 사람들을 위해 기도해야 합니다. 그들이 우
리에게 상처를 줄 때에도 말입니다. 오늘 당신은 기도해줄 사람이 있습니까?
